Adolescence can be a difficult and overwhelming time. Counselling offers a safe, supportive space where young people can talk openly, feel understood, and work through challenges at their own pace.
I have over 20 years’ experience supporting adolescents and young people across a range of community, educational, and mental health settings. My background includes working as a youth and family worker, supporting young people in care, delivering sexual health education in schools and colleges, and facilitating drug and alcohol prevention programmes.
These experiences have given me a strong understanding of the pressures and challenges many young people face today, including anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, identity issues, school stress, family conflict, and the impact of social pressures.
I offer a warm, supportive, and non-judgmental space where adolescents can feel heard, understood, and supported at a pace that feels safe for them.
The first step in the adolescent counselling process is an initial family assessment appointment. This 75-minute session is attended by the adolescent and their parent(s) or guardian(s).
Meeting together allows me to gain a better understanding of your teenager's strengths, family context, and the concerns that have brought you to seek support at this time. It also provides an opportunity for everyone to ask questions, discuss goals for counselling, and ensure that therapy feels like the right fit.
If adolescent counselling feels like the right path forward, we can then arrange individual sessions with your teenager. These sessions last 50 minutes.
Periodic family sessions may also be scheduled, in consultation with the adolescent and their parent(s)/guardian(s), to review progress or address any ongoing concerns.
I recommend committing to an initial six sessions to give the therapeutic process an opportunity to take effect. Following this, we will review how things are progressing and discuss any next steps together.
Counselling with adolescents is tailored to the individual and focuses on building trust and safety. Some young people find it easy to talk, while others may take more time to feel comfortable. Sessions move at a pace that feels manageable and supportive.
Sessions must be paid for in full before the start of a session. We offer various methods for payment, including Revolut, card payment, and cash.
If you need to cancel or reschedule a session focused on relationship therapy, please provide at least 48 hours’ notice. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice will result in the full session fee being charged.
Session Length and Late Arrivals
Sessions are 50 minutes in length. If you anticipate arriving late and let me know in advance, we can still proceed with the session; however, it will end at the originally scheduled time and cannot be extended.
If you have not arrived within 15 minutes of the scheduled start time and I have not heard from you, the session will be considered a late cancellation.
Attendance and Scheduling Needs
If you’re experiencing challenges that make regular attendance difficult, please let me know. We can discuss adjustments that ensure the schedule works for your needs.
